10th of Dec was my mom’s birthday and a very special day it was. I unfortunately had to work but my dad and I did wake up early, made my mom tea in bed and sang to her while bearing gifts like the three wise men.
A few weeks before my mom’s birthday I had to let the cat out the bag and tell my parents that my brother and I had planned a surprise holiday for them to Dublin and London in May 2015. I only wanted to reveal the surprise on Christmas day but when I heard my parents speaking about wanting to start planning a trip over to see my dad’s brothers in Dublin and my mom’s sister in London, I knew I had to spill the beans.
It was the most amazing thing to witness, my parents both cried with delight and it was just such a wonderful feeling to be the ones treating them for once. The trip was actually planned around a concert that is being held in Dublin by one of my dad’s favourite musicians- Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits.
Having said this, my mom still did get spoilt on her birthday

The family birthday tradition always includes a dinner and this year my dad booked us into La Casa Nostra in Umdloti. An upmarket Italian restaurant which lived up to its raving reviews.
They served a complimentary focaccia for the table and Sandro and I shared a tomato based mussel starter.
For mains I had the seafood risotto, Sandro had the lamb shank, my dad ordered a seafood pizza and the birthday girl had the special of the night which was calamari tubes stuffed with tempura prawns and served with a helping of roasted veg.
And what's a birthday without dessert? I wouldn't know because I always have dessert. Traditional Italian Kisses... 1 for each of us.

A delish meal and a lovely evening celebrating the most amazing mom in this world. To many more happy years xxx
